Itinerary Detail

Day 1

G’Day Mate!

Your guide, Jacinta, will meet you at Adelaide Airport. We’ll then head to our hotel in the centre of this beautiful city. A welcome lunch will give you the chance to meet your fellow cycling fans, and we’ll also run through the plans for the following exciting days. In the afternoon, we will take a short river cruise to view this amazing city from the water, before we head into the Tour Down Under Village in the early evening to enjoy the festivities. Dinner will round up the first day.

Day 2

Adelaide Zoo & Glenelg

It’s Rest Day for the Tour Down Under, giving us time to head to see some of the wildlife typical to Australia. Adelaide Zoo, one of Adelaide’s most iconic attractions, is home to more than 2,500 animals and 250 species of exotic and native mammals, birds, reptiles, and fish exhibited over eight hectares of magnificent botanic surroundings. Zoos SA is a not-for-profit conservation charity that exists to connect people with nature and save species from extinction. In the afternoon we’ll take the tram to Glenelg. Renowned for its wide beach, stunning sunsets, rich heritage and bustling shops, sidewalk cafés and loads of entertainment.

Day 3

LIVE VIP Detours Start Line, Lunch and 2 KOM passes

It’s Stage  1 today and we will join in with the local DeTours VIP day. We will head to the start line in Prospect and enjoy a private pen to watch the start, with a start line walkthrough. Well enjoy lunch at Vinteloper Cellar Door and watch 2 KOM passes o the loton from a dedicated viewing pen and then watch the race finish on the big screen. Once the race has finished we will head to Applewood Distillery in Gumeracha, which specialises in producing small batch, handcrafted spirits that highlight native ingredients. We’ll have a tour of the distillery before we board the coach and head back to the TDU village. You’ll be free to enjoy the village this evening.

Day 4

LIVE Start, Finish and 2 passes in Tanunda

Tanunda in the Barossa Valley will be hosting the stage Start and Finish and two passes from the peloton. We’ll head over on the Spectator bus in the morning in time to witness the cyclists as they head off on their first loop. Tanunda is a fantastic town to watch the race from on the big screens until it passes by twice before a sprint to the finish line. The atmosphere is great! There’s plenty of places where you can grab a snack and drinks on the go. After the finish, the Spectator Bus will drop us at the village. In the evening we will eat dinner in the hotel.

Day 5

LIVE Mid race view Hanhdorf

Today will be a mid-race viewing from Hanhdorf, which was zoned as a state heritage area in 1988 by the Government of South Australia and acknowledged as Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement. With its cork, plane and elm trees and beautiful restaurants and arts and crafts shops, it’s a must visit town and ideal to catch the race as it passes by! Schnitzel is on the menu from the café we have reserved to watch the race from! In the evening, you will be free to enjoy the village festivities.

Day 6

LIVE Race Start in Glenelg and Finish Victor Harbour

We’ll have a short journey today heading to the coast to watch the start of today’s stage. Glenelg Beach is Adelaide’s most popular city beach, offering a buzzing vibe and great atmosphere for all to enjoy.  We’ll watch the cyclists sign on and head off, before we hop in the van and take a drive down to the beautiful Victor Harbour. Vibrant ocean, blue skies and the quaint buildings make it a great spot to have lunch. We can check out the local area, watch the race live and witness the podium before heading home to the Village and another exciting interview with a pro cyclist.

Day 7

LIVE VIP Hillside Social Willunga Hill

Today we will experience the awesome Hillside Social on Willunga Hill!  We will head to the village of Willunga to soak up the atmosphere before we head to the summit to our VIP area. The Hillside Social is directly on the finish line and offers amazing views opposite the commentary team, vouchers for local food trucks, a bar, shaded seating, a DJ and the podium! What more can we ask for?! Enjoy the atmosphere as hundreds of locals attempt the climb as the music plays, the sun shines and local celebs come and watch the race. It’s just the best day!

Day 8

LIVE Hillside Social Womens' Crit and Me,ns' Stage 6

Today we head to the Hillside social on Montefiore Hill to watch the Womens’ Crit and the last stage of the Mens’ race! Each race laps a 4.5km circuit and passes by 20 times each! There’s a private enclosure, food trucks, a bar, a local DJ, commentary and seating for an amazing day! The view of the city is amazing and the day is so chilled whilst being full of excitement! A final dinner will round up an amazing trip!
